My Lords,
On the 22nd day of April in the year of our Lord 1722, Captain Awter and I did engage a pirate piloting a captured Invincible-class 1st-rate while commanding our Discovery-class 5th-rates. During the ensuing engagement captain Awter selflessly took his vessel straight into the enemy's line of fire in order to block his escape. His selfless action kept the enemy vessel engaged in combat long enough to send the enemy ship to the bottom.
Since his enlistment Mr. Awter has distinguished himself in countless engagements against the King's enemies putting his vessel and his life athwart the enemy's attempts at subverting the King's rightful rule.
For the action above, as well as his continued zeal and tenacity, I recommend Captain Oli Awter receive the Military Cross.
Written by my hand,
Captain Jack Naseby, Esq. RN
Chief of Naval Operations
