Newbies Items list - Please help

I started playing this about 2 weeks ago. My problem is I keep hearing that I need to get this item or that, SO can someone tell me what I need? I have some of it but I really need to know where to get them all. Heres what I got.

Sonia's Dissertation
Pitorro explosive
Lucy Figurehead
Pig Figurehead
Master Surgeon
Resuscitate
Solomons relic
surgical kit
lucky albatross

Items for my Fencing profession (where can I get pets?)

Filigreed Royal naval rapier
Musketeers pistol
Master fencer grips
Reinforced treads
assassins stiletto


These are just a few of all the special things I've done and have in the game. If I want to be of any use in RVR and stop dieing as badly as I am I need to know what else I need to do, and where... Remember I'm a huge n00b in this game. I didn't know what Fortaleza until yesterday, and still don't know where and or what I do and or get. Seriously need some help. Everything to complete in the game and every little item that can boost my stats +1. I'm a Naval Officer class and went Fencing profession.

I didn't know what Fortaleza until yesterday, and still don't know where and or what I do and or get. Seriously need some help. Everything to complete in the game and every little item that can boost my stats +1.

Not sure if the Fortaleza gear is still worth getting. It's probably not worth it finishing the mission several times just to get one of the swords from the final bosses. But I do like Kan Bahlum's Fang and the Crusader's Sash (drops from the first boss), combined with Serpent's Venom (from Somerset). Also good are the Reinforced Treads (from the Pit Fight daily) or the stuff from Besieged Tortuga, which is probably not worth all the grind, though.

edit: just loaded it all up and will start doing them now. How do I get a pet though? The forum page is a year old and not very helpful.
