Patronage Officers

As a new Patronage officer there are a number of short tasks you should complete. These do not have to be done within any set time, but they will count towards promotion.

  • Review your uniform
Browse the Uniform page and check you are wearing the correct clothing and accessories. If you're not sure ask a member in game to review your uniform. Your uniform must be regulation before promotion to Master and full member.
  • Review your Character Names
Check the naming guidelines to see if your character name is within the regulations. If you aren't sure send an in game mail to the Officers group asking for assistance. Your name must be regulation before promotion to Master and full member.
  • Have your alts invited to the society
Although you don't have to, we highly recommend you bring your other characters in to SGS. They will have to follow the Name and Uniform requirements like any other officer. The quickest way to get them invited is to ask on Society chat, or if an Agent is not available, send and in game mail to the Officers group.
  • Get registered on Vent
being able to listen on vent is a minimum requirement for PVP and it's an excellent way to socialist with the squadron and pick up hints and tips. If you are not already registered follow the instructions on the Ventrilo page.
  • Complete your character sheet
Follow the instructions on the Template:Captain page to create your character sheet.

Ways to leave the Squadron

File:Ways to leave the squadron.png

Announce retirement

An officer may announce his retirement at any time. He will listed on the retired officers page with his rank and awards. He may rejoin the squadron at any time but must start as a patronage officer retaining only his previous medals and awards.

Inactivity

The Squadron uses the lat logged on date for the forums to monitor it's captain's activities. Each month an email will be sent to any officer who hasn't logged onto the forums for over 30 days reminding him to do so. 10 days later and officers who still have not logged onto the forums are assumed to have left the squadron and are honorable retired keeping their rank and awards. Retired officers my reapply to join the squadron at a later date at the starting ranks, they may keep their awards.

Half Pay

An officer may choose to go on half pay at any time. Half Pay officers are exempt from the inactivity rule above and so may take a longer break from the game. A captain may return to active service at any time at full rank. However after 6 months on half pay an officer is assumed to have left the squadron and is honorably retired as above.

In all the cases above there is a 7 day cooling off period where a officer may reverse his decision and / or retirement can be reversed.

Gross Misconduct

If an officer commits gross misconduct a Senior officer vote is called to discharge the officer. The officers rank will then be stripped and his status set to dishonorable discharge. He will also be banned from the forums and website.

Example Inactivity Email

Dear Captain,
Our records show that you have not logged on to the SGS forums in over 30 days. As you know we use the last log on date to gauge the activity of our members.
If you are still active in the squadron then please log on to the forums in the next 30 days to maintain your membership.

I hope to see you soon on the forums. If not you will be moved to the Retired officers page in 10 days. You may of course rejoin the squadron later as a patronage officer.
Kind regards,
Joseph Fletcher on behalf of the Saint George Squadron
